River Country is located in the fort Wilderness Resort on the shore of Bay Lake. The entrance is next to the Pioneer Hall restaurant complex.
There is a grove area that has some picnic tables looking out over Bay Lake. This water park is not as busy as the other ones so it is more relaxing.
An Ol' Fashioned Swimming Hole with grassy grounds surrounding a secluded cove, it combines a lazy day by the lake with some high adventure. Based on the stories of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer.
Hang on to a ship's boom swing, a rope swing, large platforms with T-bars or take the plunge down at the Ol' Swimmin Hole at Bay Cove, or take the slithery route waterwards at Slippery Slide Falls. At White Water Rapids you can take a leisurely tube ride through swirling waters. At Whoop'N Holler Hollow two corkscrew slides plop you right into Bay Cove, (one is 160-feet long the other is 260-feet long).
Adults will appreciate the heated waters of the 330.000 gallon
Upstream Plunge Pool, located between the entrance and Bay Cove, that features a built in rock-formation along one side that houses Slippery Slide Falls, two slides that begin high up in the rocks but end well above the surface of the water.
Kids will enjoy their own water play area down at
Kiddie Cove, located at the inland end of Bay Cove, which offers a tamer version. There is a Beach Area with lounge chairs along one side and a grassy area with picnic tables and a fountain. In addition there is a Nature Trail along the shore of Bay Lake.
There are changing rooms with showers as well as lockers, (large $5.00, with $2.00 deposit, small $3.00, with same deposit, per day).
The killer about this water park is that it is located in a real lake and if it has been raining, or is unseasonably cold the lake is freezing and takes all the fun out of being there. Rumour has it that it will be turned into the swimming pool for 'Fort Wilderness' and be discontinued as a water park.

Disney's River Country invites guests to celebrate the 4th July every day with the All-American Water Party. The entire park is dressed in red, white and blue and Disney characters including Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip 'n Dale appear on and off all day long to join in the fun along with live music with fun and games for the whole family. They dance with the kids and there is even a parade. Unfortunately they do not do any swimming, they only walk around the paths of River Country.
There are also watermelon-seed spitting contests, inner tube races, tug-of-wars, a water balloon toss and other games.
There is a beach shop that sells things from sun tan oil to buckets and spades and film.
There is also a fast food restaurant called Pop's Place located near the changing rooms that sells hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, salads and drinks. You can also exit River Country and eat at one of the restaurants in Fort Wilderness's Pioneer hall complex. You can even go for a picnic along Fort Wilderness Beach, or get a take-away from the Settlement Trading Post.
If you want to Re-enter River Country or any other Disney Park on the same day you must get your hand stamped on the way out.
When we go to River Country we can take Beth for a Pony Ride at Fort Wilderness for $2.00,between 10.00AM and 5.00PM, or go to the Petting Farm at Fort Wilderness.
